What's your favourite Luftwaffe aircraft of WW2?
|
Always liked the Me 109 but the Focke Wulf Fw 190 was a superb aircraft that was the best fighter around for a while.

Why do the losers in war always have the most stylish equipment and uniforms?

Are there? That's brilliant if so. Imagine a bunch of them in formation.

Would be a great experience to have regularly, I saw it at a thing they did for the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame a while ago.
I said earlier that I got to visit the Bazalgette Memorial one in Nanton pretty regular as a kid. I know they have been trying to restore it to flying condition for years but have always run into parts and money issues. They have a list of what they need on the Bomber Command of Canada Museum website.

I live just a few miles from duxford, can see the air show for free and see all of their planes over audley end (when I am walking the lab) pretty often.
I love the sound of a single merlin.

I'll tell you what FC, for $3500 (about 1750 pounds) you can fly in one for an hour. You should come over.
I'll pay your entrance fee so you can see it grounded.

That must have been some experience Ontario, Dresden was a firestorm, absolutely obliterated it.

Ontario, no better sound than 4 Merlins in unison, pure symphony and an aural delight

Lancaster if we're talking our side. My great uncle was a bombardier in one, and took part in Dresden.
I still get chills when one of the only two left working flies over my house. Jealous? You're jealous.

Favourite Bosch aircraft in WW2 - any that were shot down
At least thats what my old Dad, God bless him, would have said having been on the rough end of a couple that bombed out his family twice

Honourable mention to "The Wooden Wonder" Mosquito, could pretty much do everything pretty well and a lot faster than it looked.
